divorce (northwest)

i’ve traded half of everything for
a fantasy i can keep. no longer
is it threatened by reality. i took
precautions; and it said, no never,
or it said nothing disappearing where
only i remember. change comes
even in houses, my kitchen
won’t host, lazy susan stuck, other appliances abandoned…
and the music annoys. how things change
they imply, even me
(i gave up similes) neither blue nor bigger,
you see a monster in it, go
blame distractions
for keeping us alive.
