Orchids of southwest Montana

Our State website lists 31 species of orchid identified as native to Montana– which is fairly miniscule, compared to the 25,000 species (more or less) described worldwide. Nevertheless, when walking in a local forest that may only contain three species of trees, that odd orchid provides a unique occasion for surprise and color.
